Where can you play in Alaska? – Paintball Plex
Alaska is the largest state in the US, with three-time zones. Situated in North America, it borders the Pacific Ocean, Canada, and the state of Alaska. It is the northernmost state of the U.S. and the westernmost state of North America. Alaska has a total land area of 570,380 square miles. It is bordered by Yukon, Northwest Alaska, and Russia to the north, as well as Canada to the south and Europe to the west.
- Alaska has 10 time zones. They are as follows:
Central Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time
Eastern Standard Time is 6 hours ahead of Western Standard Time
Mountain Standard Time is 7 hours ahead of Mountain Daylight Time
Pacific Time is 7 hours ahead of Central Time
Pacific Daylight Time is 12 hours ahead of Mountain Daylight Time
So, if you live in one of those states, here are a few tips about working and living in Alaska using the time zones mentioned above:
- Weather
Alaska doesn’t get a lot of precipitation. In fact, the state only gets an average season of 2–8 inches. There is snow on the ground most of the year (especially in the northern areas), so wear layers and bring a shovel or two along.
The state is sunny most of the year, with highs reaching 80 degrees. Summers can get up to 90 degrees, with the sun shining most of the day in the morning. Choose a sunny day over a cloudy one.
The state gets relatively cold, with an average temperature of around 20 degrees. It gets a bit more extreme during the winter, so avoid the winter months.
- Culture
Alaska is landlocked, which means there are no major ports for ships to call at. There are a few small connections to the rest of the country, but only two major cities—Juneau and Anchorage—have public transportation. Small and midsize towns don’t have public transportation, only buses. Buses run between Juneau and a small airport on the Alaska Peninsula.
