An airsoft gun is a replica or look-alike firearm that shoots non-metallic spherical projectiles and uses compressed air (usually from a canister) to propel the projectile. Airsoft guns fire non-metallic spherical pellets at low velocities, less than 5.5 meters per second (16.8 mph or 27.3 m/s.) at full 8 inches in diameter.

Generally speaking, a pellet is comprised of three parts: a metal slug, a metal ball, and a wire coil. High-velocity airsoft guns usually have a larger slug, larger wound ball, and/or an altered wound coil to accommodate a faster-than-air impact. The bullet itself is solid lead or sometimes BBs.

Learning how to shoot Basic gun handling is all about learning how to correctly hold the gun and aim at a target. Although some terminology between the military and civilians can be confusing, the basics of shooting are about as fundamental as learning to walk.
